The DCI

~
I recently received my Magic Player Rewards package from DCI. Quite fortuitously, the mailing came in on a Friday which meant I could be Mr. Fancy Pants at Friday Night Magic and revel in my geekery.

If you would like to get your paws on these cards, drop over to CCG Tradepost and we could work out a trade.

~

Anywho - as I mentioned, these cards came to FNM and to my astonishment, there were still players who did not know where to get a hold of these textless cards adorned with beautiful alternate art. To this end, I will provide a post about DCI, the place where all this card goodness comes from.

The DCI (formerly, Duelists' Convocation International) is the official sanctioning body for competitive play in Magic: The Gathering and various other games produced by Wizards of the Coast and Avalon Hill. The DCI provides game rules, tournament operating procedures, and other materials to private tournament organizers and players. It also operates a judge certification program to provide consistent rules enforcement and promote fair play.

The Carrot and the Stick

DCI as you may now realise from the above blurb regulates just about every aspect of organised play. This ensures a safe and fair environment for players. You may not always agree with a call from a Judge, but at the end of the day, I am certain you appreciate these front-line heroes.

Anywho - About the MTG Theft Ring you may have heard about at the recent Grand Prix Chicago. I often read the Spanish blogs such as 'Magic Madrid' and 'SoloLegacy'. I came across the story and soon found additional stories on the forums as well as a very detailed article over at the Starkington Post.

As the individual was caught 'flagrante delicto' attempting to steal a packback with cards, criminal records were sure to follow. To this end, since the event, I watched the DCI suspended player list and sure enough on 11th March, the perputrator along with 3 other co-conspirators showed up on said list. PLEASE note - that these persons may or may not be those responsible so do not jump to conclusions.

In summary - if the Judge Team looks like a string of linebackers like the team at the Chicago GP, you better be well behaved. Thanks Judges.
