Happy Monday MTG peeps,
We are now in sitting pretty at the top of preview week two of three in the lead up to the Avacyn Restored prerelease. At the moment, we have 62 of 244 Avacyn Restored cards spoiled / previewed. and more new Magic the Gathering cards from this set coming in (almost) each day - even including Saturday when another card (Reforge the Soul) was previewed during the SCG Open tournament in Phoenix. Let's have a looky at the new crop of cardboard awesomeness we have for you today . . .
~
Assassins' Stronghold (name?)
Land, Rare
{T}: Add to your mana pool.
{R}{W},{T} : Target creature gains +2/+0, haste and vigilance until the end of turn.
This card, previewed at the Spanish Magic the Gathering fan site, Rebellion.es looks slick. A +2/+0 pump, haste and vigilence may be something which some players are looking for - whether is is a fast Midnight Haunting or a R/W Tempered steel build, one thing is for sure - expect to pay more for Clifftop Retreat.
Champion of Lambholt, 1gg
Creature - Human Warrior, Rare
Creatures with power less than Champion of Lambholt's power can't block creatures you control.
Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, put a +1/+1 counter on Champion of Lambholt.
1/1
Champion of the Parish has a new girlfriend. Where Parish Champ was a bit discerning on how he collected +1/+1 counters (Humans only plz!), Lambholt Champ will collect that same +1/+1 counter on any creature type on your turn's EOTB. Additionally, she will also has a super-sweet ability which makes your cretures unblockable as long as their power is less than that of the L. Champ. Looking into our Gamer's crystal ball, we see players wanting to build a green-white human build.
~
Wolfir Silverheart, 3gg
Creature - Wolf Warrior, Rare
Soulbond
As long as Wolfir Silverheart is paired with another creature, each of those creatures gets +4/+4.
4/4
You know what's awesome? Muppets who play MTG. Also - new AVR Soulbond creatures who are paired up with another Soulbond critter. Like Wolfir here and say Silverblade Paladin. Imagine a 6/6 and a 8/8 double striking alpha swing. Yeah - that would be cool.

Descent into Madness, 3bb
Enchantment, Mythic Rare
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a despair counter on Descent into Madness, then each player exiles X permanents he or she controls and/or cards from his or her hand, where X is the number of despair counters on Descent into Madness.
We have no clue where this card may effeciently in a standard constructed build. We would rather play Horrifying Revelation instead but perhaps this may be a poison pill worth taking if you needed to slow the game down or reset the board. If any player has some ideas for this, we would love to hear from you.
~
Reforge the Soul, 3rr
Sorcery, Rare
Each player discards his or her hand and draws seven cards.
Miracle 1{R}
We are kinda scared of this card - what if your opponent draws better cards than you? Perhaps you are all out of options and need to get cards back in your hand? Perhaps someone smarter than us will make a kick-butt deck with Liliana's Caress or perhaps Splinterfright?
~
Lastly,
Our friends over at MTG Mint Card are working hard to get the latest Avacyn Restored singles posted up and priced for pre-order. Check 'em out!
