MTG Realm headed out the the midnight Innistrad PreRelease event at OMG! Games in Barrie, Ontario, Canada to soak up this latest Magic the Gatering set. The evening was dark, stormy, and somewhat apropos given that classic horror theme to this new set.
The was abosolutely packed with just over 40 or so, with most of the players from the Friday Night Magic game staying for the midnight prerelease which got off the ground around 12:30 a.m. Given the close proximity to Georgian College, several students at the adjacent student residences dropped in to see what the party was all about, including crazy bunny girl which the store regulars would want to make an appropriate t-shirt.
Anwyhoos - let's get to the short video we shot . . . .

We loved the rare slot with the highly sought after Snapcaster Mage, but we estatic when we opened not one, not two but three rares in pack three. Three rares in a booster pack would be highly irregular except this is Innistrad where one slot is reserved for a double-sided card which means that a possibility exists where one could get a rare, a foil rare and a rare double-sided card. Very cool indeed.
We loved all the new cards, the awesome flavour and good games we had. Our sealed batch included some deep pools in black and blue with very shallow pools in the remaining colours. We built like a n00b in black and white and really did not stand a chance. We went 2 : 0 and dropped after the second match at around 3:30 in the morning to go back home and drool over the awesome Innistrad loot. Our trade binders are now filled with about $60 worth of singles and our minds engaged with new deck ideas and game plans.
Tell us how your prerelease event went - what you pulled, what you played or an amazing game you had or witnessed.

I wasn't able to make it to a pre-release event since this weekend is always the weekend of my wife's birthday. Gonna be hitting a release draft on Friday night, though. I hope I get so lucky as you! But then again, maybe not, because pulling three rares and having to pass two of them on would royally suck SO bad. Also picking up a booster box on Friday for much pack-opening goodness!
Went to the Pre-release Sat. at noon. Got to the top 4 with a green/white, human/spirit build. Rares: Essence of the wild, Mentor of the Meek, Gavony Township, Dearly Departed, & Daybreak Ranger.
I won all 4 of my matches at draft got first place. Made a red white spirit deck my best cards were midnight haunting with the enchantment to pump and give my tokens vigilance. Had devil's play brimstone volley and rumbling temblor or something like that for removal. Had 6 flying creatures plus 3 cards that give me 2 spirit tokens. So that temblor card was brutal against my opponents 2 damage to all creatures without flying. Plus flashback on two of those red spells and one with morbid. Mentor of the meek for card draw but I still say midnight haunting
Is what won me first place
Went to two sealed pre-releases and one draft (in that order). Finished 3rd at the first event, tied for 1st at the second event, and tied for 1st at the third event. Trepenation blade was the backbone of my sealed decks (which were W/B) and Skirsdag High Priest with Mask of Avacyn was brutal to my opponents during the draft.
In total, I won 30 packs between the two days and after opening them up, found a pair of Garruks, Snapcaster Mage, and a plethora of other decent rares. Good weekend!
