PAX Prime Weekend

~
The Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) is now on in Seattle this weekend, and promises to be one of the more important shows for Magic the Gathering players. This is the opportunity where Wizards of the Coast will be showcasing their entire product line from Dungeons & Dragons to their electronic games. Wizards will offer attendees the chance to play Duels of the Planeswalker and Magic the Gathering Tactics at the booth located at booth # 1114 inside the Intel, Valve, and Bioware areas.

If you are are a regular reader here on MTG Realm (there's about 4,000 of you daily), chances are you are a spoiler nutter just like us: the best reason to be in Seattle this weekend is for the upcoming Scars of Mirrodin set which will have several cards previewed at the exclusive Assault on Mirrodin party at Showbox at the Market on Saturday, September 4. Last year's "The Sights of Zendikar" at Trinity Nightclub was a blast ! Tickets to the party are limited, but PAX attendees will have a chance to earn one by stopping by the Wizards booth and participating in a scavenger hunt activity at the show. Personally, we are hoping that the new Scars of Mirrodin Planeswalker, Venser the Sojourner gets partially or fully spoiled.

There is also a metric tonne of MTG tournaments to play in - everything from the regular formats such as Standard, Sealed, and Draft, and some very interesting fun formats which we have not even heard of like the following -

Mini-Master: In this format each player receives a Magic 2011 booster and three of each basic land. Players shuffle all cards together and play in single elimination. Players still in the event receive an additional booster at the start of each round and add it to their deck.

Snowball: Each player receives a random 30 card single-color deck and a booster pack. After each round players receive a booster pack to add cards to their deck. Single-game matches - play until the event is over!

Also planned are Grand Prix Trials, 2 Headed Giant, an Intro Pack league, and the latest multi-player MTG game, Archenemy. You can view the full Magic: The Gathering PAX event schedule HERE.

Righto - We need your HELP - we need you to send updates to us if you are attending - send us an eMail us! your twitter / twitpic / tweetphoto feed or just a simple eMail and we will share it with the rest of the readers providing our thanks and credit.
