An MTG Christmas

~
Happy hump-day MTG peeps,

Here at MTG Realm, we are beginning to get in to the Christmas spirit and have subsequently been busily engaged with all manner of Holiday customs - decorations, greeting cards, and what-not.  Let's have a look at what we've been up to.

~
Posted to our MTG Realm Tumblr page last evening - we got crazy with our glue gun and made an Magic: the Gathering Christmas tree . .

It may be a bit late but we're thinking of still doing up an Advent Calendar like the one Win-Mill did here.

Perhaps not for everyone, but here is an idea for a holiday photo to send along with your Season's Greetings newsletter to friends and family.  This one from Reddit user 'ILikeToPinch' posing with some MTG cards and what I'm sure is a not a real Smith & Wesson SD40.  Ensure you add a witty line about in-game missed triggers.

An easy MTG Christmas decoration you can do - grab a bunch of your most expensive foils, punch holes in 'em and make a garland for your Christmas tree . . .

Finally, don't forget to get your Christmas cards out in the mail before its too late -

MTG 2011 Holiday Promo Card

~
Happy Tuesday MTG peeps,

Just a titch early this year, Wizards of the Coast has released their 2011 Holiday card. If you are not aware, these Holidays Cards are not tournament-legal but completely fun in foil, which are provide to Wizards’ staff and business partners. If you are not affiliated with WoTC and really, really want to score one of these, don't fret - they do occasionally find their way onto the singles market but expect to pay around $50 for these fun foil curiosities.

Anywhoos -
This year's card is the very witty Yule Ooze with art by Steve Prescot . . .

ere is a review of past Magic the Gathering Holiday cards - we'll say Christmas Cards as we just so happen to be Christian. Click on the linky for each to download the wallpaper or to embiggen that image -

MTG Christmas Cards

~
Happy Holidays MTG peeps,

We wish you a great Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Festivus, Winter Solstice or whatever you may be celebrating. We also wish you some awesome gaming and being the best player you can in the New Year. As we did not have the time, money or effort to get each one of you a gift, please feel free to print off one of these Magic the Gathering themed greeting cards and place it on your mantel, pin it to your wall in cubeville or mail it to yourself. Best wishes from us at MTG Realm - see you in the New Year when we hope to start up the MTG spoiler / news / rumour engines in time for Mirrodin Besieged.

We also want to send out a big thank-you to our friends at DogStar Games, Cardhoarder, CCG House, MTG Mint Card, Troll and Toad, The Mana Fix and Magic on a Budget fro sponsoring MTG Realm.

Merry Christmas 2010

~
Happy Monday MTG peeps,

As it is the 20th of December, there is not much time until you head off to the parents / inlaws / outlaws or others to enjoy some quality time with them - we feel your pain. Enjoy that overcooked / undercooked Christmas meal accompanied by that re-gifted fruitcake.

We here at MTG Realm may be off-lined for a few days as we prepare and then recovery from the season's festivities but if something news worthy does hit the internets, be assured you will be able to read about it here.

For now, here is a review of present and past Magic the Gathering Christmas cards. These
rather witty / waggish cards released at this special time of year to WoTC staffers but if you take a dip into the Magic singles market, these puppies go for around $50 or so.

Season's Beatings, Christmas 2009

Evil Presents, Christmas 2008

Gifts Given, Christmas 2007

Fruitcake Elemental 2006

If you are well and truly stuck for a Christmas gift for that special Magic player in your life and want to be able to make his or her game moar awesum, you can always put in some arts 'n' crafts time - nothing says cheap procrastinator than a home made MTG lifecounter. This one features Jace and TWO dials for life AND poison counters - very slick.

Also - we want to say a special Merry Christmas to the approximately 4,000 or so folks in the Canadian forces who won't make it home for the holidays from 'over there'. Get back soon and safe.

~
One last word . .

MTG Mint Card just put up their page for Mirrodin Besieged singles. So far there is just the four we have all seen before but keep your eye on this as more cards are loaded up for pre-orders which will ship out February 4th.

Worldwake Spoilers 1-13

~
Good Day folks -

Welcome to the beginning of Worldwake Previews. A very large amount of material is now up as Wizards for you to go through. We suggest you call in to your school or workplace and let them know that you really need to take the day off to look at Worldwake previews and teasers.

Knowing that unofficial spoilers this season was scratched, we're certain your school / work will understand why you need the day off.

Let's have a look at what is now available . .

We want to yatter about the new Worldwake cards but will hold off until latter. For now, we will leave you off with this week's puzzle / Worldwake wallpaper - The beautiful and mysterious Halimar Depths, illustrated by Volken Baga.

MTG Realm announcement . . .
Stay tuned for this Friday's post - we got goodies from Wizards !
Yep - that's right, we have four commons and one uncommon Worldwake spoilers right before the previews begin on Wizards.

Worldwake Spoiler 12-23

~
Good Day folks,
Yesterday was a surprisinly busy day here on the blog (just over 5,000 visitors again) with most MTG fans checking out the new Worldwake Art and Worldwake Intropack brochure. If ya missed, check yesterday's post HERE.

In keeping with the theme of Worldwake art spoilers, we have two very cool playmats available from CoolStuffInc. featuring sweet / epic art. These playmats are provided by the distributors to stores based on the number of Worldwake booster boxes ordered.

First one is rather obviously a Zendikar Kor Cleric working some big magic. We will speculate some sorcery / enchantment with protection from black / red.

Second playmat art is featuring that beautifull Angel art we have been seeing on 'teh internets'. Is this the much speculated Worldwake 'Admonition Angel' or another creature ?

ASIDE - We want to thank Sean C., formerly of 'The Guild' and now affiliated with 'The Wizard's Cupboard' for fabricating an awesome new banner using this beautiful Worldwake Angel Art.
~
And now for something altogehter different . .

We realise that if you have not yet made any movement to acquire Christmas gifts, you may be well and truly farked but do not let that stop you from trying to slip into the spirit of the season. We hope to provide you with some unique decorations for your Christmas tree - - A MTG Tree Garland !

What you will need for our craft . . .
> A Christmas Tree (duh)
> A hole punch
> Some string
> A pile of foil MTG cards

Grab yourself all those foils that have been collecting dust and look for 'Christmas-y' colours - red, green, and white. Throw in some blue and black to mix things up. We suggest foil Bankslayer Angels and Elspeth, Knight-Errants .

Using a hole punch, drop a hole near the top and bottom of the card. This hole is where we will use the string the tie together the next Magic card. Rinse and reapeat. Don't forget to alternate card colours to get the full mana spectrum represented.

Finally, sting your garland up on your tree and wish all of your Magic The Gathering buddies a very merry.
~
A Safe and Happy Christmas to all.
