Happy Sunday MTG peeps,
MTG Realm was at the Friday Night Magic event at OMG! Games here in Barrie, Ontario, Canada-Land for the release of Battle for Zendikar. We absolutely love the first few weeks after a Magic: the Gathering set release as players are brewing up weird and wonderful decklists and every new strategy is yet unproven.
If you are still undecided as what to play, here are 15 decklist suggestions from Japanese Pro Player Kenji Tsumura (津村 健志). You may recall similar previous MTG Realm posts here and here where we had pointed you to Pro Player Tomoharu Saito (トモハル) who provide their ideas via the Hareruya MTG card shop twitter.
Here are 15 standard format lists ready for your to build upon and modify to taste.
Deck 1 "Battle for Zendikar"
Four-colour good stuff with Siege Rhino, Mantis Rider and Woodland Wanderer for a nice 'converge' spin.
Deck 2 "Hangarback Abzan"
Existing list with a handful of new coolness like Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, Ob Nixilis Reignited and Ruinous Path.
Deck 3 "Red Deck Wins"
This list did not pick up anything new with Battle for Zendikar, but that is certainly not stopping you.
Deck 4 "UW Control"
Just a splash of new BFZ in this list like an improved mana base, Emeria Shepherd, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar and Scatter to the Winds.
Deck 5 "Esper Dragon"
Ruinous Path and Sunken Hollow join this blue-black list which splashes white for Ojutai.
Deck 6 "Jund Sacrifice"
If you liking to sac for benefits, here's your list featuring Eldrazi Scion token makers like Blisterpod and Catacomb Sifter to power Smothering Abomination and Bone Splinters.
Deck 7 "Ally"
We like this list - it's like Abzan Rally Allies with a life-link subtheme. This list features Zulaport Cutthroat, this set's new 'Aristocrat'.
Deck 8 "Landfall"
Imagine that 'X all the Y' meme - yep - play all the Landfall cards like Undergrowth Champion, Scythe Leopard and friends helped by Atarka's Command.
Deck 9 "Temur Super Friends"
Brutal Expulsion and Kiora featured here with the Lumbering Falls man-land.
Deck 10 "UB Devoid"
Like the new Devoid and Ingest mechanic? Then get in here with this blue / black list which features Fathom Feeder, Hangarback Walker and Ghostfire Blade.
Deck 11 "Eldrazi Ramp"
Ramp, ramp, ramp with a very heavy punchline like Ulamog, Ararka or Oblivion Sower.
Deck 12 "Mono White Felidar"
We loved the alternate win condition Felidar Sovereign provided when the original Zendikar was released. We don't think this list will quite make the cut though.
Deck 13 "Jeskai"
No major changes to the 'pre-BFZ' list - Clutch of Currents and Gideon are added.
Deck 14 "UR Tutelage"
Brutal Explusion and Radiant Flames make the list here.
Deck 15 "Bring to Light"
Bring to Light (the newest / coolest 'converge' card) has a lot of players talking about building around it. Here is a great 4-colour list to consider.
