Happy Wednesday MTG peeps,
Today, we will be yattering a bit about how well Wizards of the Coast is doing with regards to supporting local retailers at Magic the Gathering / gaming stores through their new and improved Wizards Play Network program.
First however, we're taking a quick peak at one of the first images of a Mirrodin Besieged booster box. Very tantalizing - we can clearly see the far right booster pack featuring the new Tezzeret variant Planeswalker . . .
We can't make out the other two booster pack images and are as excited as a porcupine meeting a pineapple and are counting down the days to the release on February 4th. A booster box contains 36 booster packs (each booster pack contains 15 cards per booster: 1 rare, 3 uncommons and 11 commons, a land card and sometimes a random foil of any rarity in that set). Booster boxes retail anywhere from $100 to $140 depending where you may be.
Also of note - images of a Mirrodin Besieged Fat Pack and an Intro Pack have popped up on the internetz . . .
Refer to our previous post HERE about the bigger fat pack (one more booster, more land, deck boxes).
The red-white (/ mirran - algined) Intro Pack features an angel - 'herald' with a casting cost of 3.

Next up,
We wanted to revisit the recent changes to the Wizards Play Network. Some organisers who cultivated (some over several years) a playgroup were miffed to say the least when support was removed by WoTC in favour of bolstering conventional brick 'n' mortar stores. We thankfully play regularly at a store but feel badly for the organisers without a store.
Having said that, we really appreciate some of the awesome promotions coming to the local store in the very near future - check out the details on the Winter 2011 Gateway Kit . . .
The Winter 2011 Gateway Kit will contain goodies to support Dungeons & Dragons as well as Magic: the Gathering. A store is a public brick-and-mortar retail location that purchases product from a distributor or directly from Wizards of the Coast, and offers current Wizards product on-site for sale to customers.
* 60 foil alternate art Magic: the Gathering promo cards
* 40 Magic: the Gathering - Archenemy promo cards
* 20 D&D Fortune Cards
* 1 "Reaching Core Level" document
* 1 D&D casual play suggestions document
* 1 Magic casual play suggestions document
* 2 Posters
Additionally, Wizards will be including materials for a War League. Revolving around the Scars of Mirrodin block storyline, the War League will enable players to choose a side and battle amongst their friends as supporters of either they Mirrans or the Phyrexians. Here's what's in the kit . . .
* 1 Magic League tracking poster (2-sided)
* 2 Magic sticker sheets
* 12 Mirran affiliation buttons
* 12 Phyrexian affiliation buttons

Lastly, be sure to check out MTG Mint Card which has Jace vs. Chandra Singles available and in stock in time for that MTG Player at Christmas time.

The two boosters not depicting Tezzy appear to be the two crusaders.
I agree with mister Troll, those 2 other packs appear to be the crusaders. And of the 9 packs, I only see those 3 images, so maybe Tez is the only planeswalker in the expansion
