New Mirrodin Besieged Art

~
Happy Wednesday MTG fans,

Before we get along to a new art from the upcoming Mirrodin Besieged set, we'll have a look at what Magic the Gathering stores around the world and around the corner in your neighbourhood are handing out as November's Friday Night Magic (FNM) promotional card . . . Here's the promo -

Gatekeeper of Malakir,

Creature - Vampire Warrior, Zendikar Uncommon

Kicker
(You may pay an additional as you cast this spell.)

When Gatekeeper of Malakir enters the battlefield, if it was kicked, target player sacrifices a creature.

2/2

As it is only a few days after Halloween, we'll slip in this somewhat apropos quote from Ghostbusters . .

[Dana, possessed by "The Gatekeeper," answers the door]
Dana Barrett: Are you the Keymaster?
Dr. Peter Venkman: Not that I know of.
[She slams the door in his face. Venkman knocks again]
Dana Barrett: Are you the Keymaster?
Dr. Peter Venkman: Yes. Actually I'm a friend of his, he asked me to meet him here.

The flavour text on this lovely gem any Vampire deck would be happy to have is "You may enter the city—once the toll is paid." - The rather important question here is what exactly is the toll ?? We strongly suspect it is a simple hug. We truly hope da hugz is not awkward / uncomfortably long. Anywhoos - get out and get one of these cards - these are good a two-drop, 2/2 body packing a Cruel Edict effect is nothing to scoff at and it really is so much fun having your opponent having to sac the fatty they just rolled out.

As promised, here is the new Mirrodin Besieged art which has been circulating around teh internetz. Courtesy of the very well travelled Mr. Hedgehog81 who had picked up this Pro-Tour Paris flyer at a recent convention in Italy.

Yep - there appears to be a whole lot of dichotomy to be had in the upcoming set, kinda like the duality of Mirrodin, the whole Mirran / Phyrexian / Jungian thing.

Righto - Let's name 'em.
Popular belief holds that the fella on the left is 'Mirran Crusader' which makes his buddy on the right 'Phyrexian Crusader' not too unlike the Peace / Pierce Strider promos from MBS handed out during Scars of Mirrodin Game Day.

Next -
Please provide some radical sugar-induced speculation as to what these two cards may do. We think two white or two black with an activation for first strike or life-link on the Mirran and perhaps a 'gains infect' until end of turn for the Phyrexian one.

Pipe in - what do you think ?
