~
Hey ya folks,
Is it just us or does it seems Wizards is really pushing the myr tribe type in this set just as they had Soldiers in M10 ? Anywhoos - we're not minding just yet but if every Tim, Spike and John are playing this in the local metagame, we're becoming Manic Vandals. Anywhoos - today's post is a bit of carry over from yesterday's Token discussion as well as a bit of an explore in the Myr homeworld - first things first - what are Myr like ?
The myr are like verdegris: an ever-present patina on the floor of a metal world.
The myr are like razorgrass: numberless metal figures, reflecting each other's light.
The myr are like rusted metal: gleaming purpose hidden behind a thin disguise of debris.
The myr are like necrogen: a transformative force unconcerned with the changes they wreak.
The myr are like the Glimmervoid: blank canvases on which to build grand creations.
The myr are like quicksilver: malleable in function and adaptable in form.
To date, we have had the following Scars of Mirrodin spoiler 'n' previews -
Coppery Myr, Gold Myr, Ichorclaw Myr, Iron Myr, Leaden Myr, Myr Battlesphere, Myr Galvanizer, Myrsmith, Origin Spellbomb, Palladium Myr, Silver Myr, and who knows what else. Let's have a look at some cards which may pimp your Myr game, but first off - a look at cards with produce 1/1 colourless Myr tokens
Myrsmith, 1w
Creature - Human Artificer, Uncommon
Whenever you cast an artifact spell, you may pay {1}. If you do, put a 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature token onto the battlefield.
2/1
Myr Battlesphere, 7
Artifact Creature - Myr Construct, Rare
When Myr Battlesphere enters the battlefield, put four 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature tokens onto the battlefield.
Whenever Myr Battlesphere attacks, you may tap X untapped Myr you control. If you do, Myr Battlespherre gets +X/+0 until end of turn and deals X damage to defending player.
4/7
Origin Spellbomb, 1
Artifact Common
1, {T}, Sacrifice Origin Spellbomb: Put a 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature token onto the battlefield.
When Origin Spellbomb is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may pay {W}. If you do, draw a card.

And finally, as we all know the next FNM after Scars of Mirrodin will be released, someone will be playing a a Myr deck. Right now, as there will be so many decent / solid choices players may be playing a Myr buffet of everything and let the metagame decide which cards to play and which cards to drop from their build.
Here is a suggested serving of standard Myr.
The accelerants here are Gold Myr and Palladum Myr. Myr pumps are had with Myr Galvanizer, Steel Overseer and Tempered Steel. One could in theory generate a Myr token with Myrsmith, Origin Spellbomb or Myr Battlesphere and have the 1/1 token get pumped to a 5/5 given all the cards mentioned - not bad for a game table threat.
Yatter to us - tell us what you guys would use in a standard casual Myr build.

You should really consider Splinter Twin for infinite Myr of infinite size. Put it on the Myr Galvinizer. All you need for the combo is a mana generating Myr the Galvinizer and Splinter Twin.
for a W myr build, here's what i have in mind:
4 myrsmith
3 indomitable angel
4 myr galvanizer
4 gold myr
4 palladium myr
2 myr battlesphere
3 whispersilk cloak
4 origin spellbomb
4 myr resevoir
3 darksteel myr
3 ichorclaw myr
38 spells since we have palladium & gold myrs for mana production.
the indomitable angel equipped with the whispersilk cloak will protect the myrs and itself.
darksteel myr is there as a chump blocker, holding off the enemy while we're building up our army. myr galvanizer is enough for power boosting imo.
the win condition can be either an army of myrs, indomitable angel itself, the battlesphere or the ichorclaw
My R/W Myr Deck is similar to Marvel's but with a few changes:
3 myrsmith
3 indomitable angel
4 myr galvanizer
4 gold myr
4 palladium myr
3 myr battlesphere
3 whispersilk cloak
3 origin spellbomb
3 myr resevoir
2 tempered steel
4 splinter twin
4 iron myr
40 spells which may increase after playtesting due to there being 16 mana production sources
With 12 plains and 8 mountains
You guys should consider the 0 cost mana maker, it would be great if its in your budget!
This is the current set up I'm using for my myr deck
4x Gold Myr (Can be Gold, Silver, Copper, Leaden, or Iron)
4x Silver Myr (Can be Gold, Silver, Copper, Leaden, or Iron)
4x Dark Steel Myr
4x Ichor Claw Myr
4x Myr Battlesphere
2x Myr Reservoir
2x Myrsmith
4x Myr Galvanizer
4x Palladium Myr
4x Semblance Anvil
1x Darksteel Juggernaut (Can switch out for another Exoskeleton for greater chance to have anti Emrkaul)
3x Flight Spellbomb
2x Grafted Exoskeleton
If you get 1 Myr Battlesphere, 2 Myr Galvanizers, and either 1 Gold, Silver, or mixed Myrs, or 1 Palladium Myr on the feild, you instantly win. Galvanizer untap two tapped mana Myrs, up tap, next Galvanizer untaps other and cycle continues. This gives Battlespheres ability Infinity damage direct to enemy.
