MTG Arts 'n' Crafts

~
Happy Tuesday MTG peeps,

After our last order of Magic: the Gathering singles from MTG Mint Card, we've been madly brewing a bunch of crazy new standard constructed decklists with our group.  We hope to yatter later about how well some of these lists are but for now, we want to turn the MTG Realm spotlight on our new friend Renée Moura from Jyvaskyla, Finland (about 250 clicks north of Helsinki).

The very talented and crafty Renée produces a number of unique & eco-friendly leather journals, pouches, accessories, necklaces and other customized items.  If you are a MTG player, DnD player or tabletop RPG gamer, you'll likely find a very lovely accessory for your game.

Here's a short selection of beautiful items, all which we imagine has a feel of Viking / Celtic / Medieval artistry touch to them.

Here's the 4.1.1. if you're thinking of a Holiday gift for that gamer in your life.

Runes, Talismans, Pouches, Journals & other handmade enchanted items.

MTG Tumblr Tuesday

Magic: the Gathering - Vronos
At the top - awesome art by Chippy with the remaining images from the Magic 2015 - Duels of the Planeswalkers trailer showing a sticky end for the Planeswalker Vronos - BUT - just who was Vronos anywhooos ??  For all things storyline, pop on over to Doug Beyer’s Tumblr - for now, here’s the 4.1.1. from the MTGSalvation Wiki -
Vronos, nicknamed the Grey Fencer, was an Elite Inquisitor from Innistrad. When he was attacked by a pack of young werewolves his planeswalker’s spark ignited and he ended up wounded on Alara where he was studied by the Vedalken Ethersworn. Vronos demanded a high price in return: knowledge. He uncovered some of the lore within the sacred Texts, learned the basic nature of a strange metal and its long-lost creator, and practiced the arcane arts of the metal-working wizards. He repaired his ravaged face with an etherium infix and crafted a filigreed mask of the same material.

After many months of study and travel, he returned to Innistrad as a penitent. He was then charged by Avacyn to find the cursed Garruk Wildspeaker so that she could heal him. He failed and was killed by Garruk instead.

Tumblr Thursday

~
Happy Thursday MTG peeps,

We here at MTG Realm are looking forward to the upcoming Friday Night Magic event at OMG! Games tomorrow night - why you ask ?  Well funny you should ask - one of the local players (good guy Johnny Bremner) found a rather critical card we were looking for and we think it will make all the difference in the world how smoothly our standard format deck will now play - we'll give ya an update early next week.  Anywhoos, with our recent orders from MTG Mint Card and Johnny's contribution, we feel confident in hitting the Top 8 with relative ease.

As we're spending the evening getting a feeling how our new monster is working, we wont' be writing a high-brow article on Magic: the Gathering but rather defer to our sister site, MTG Realm on Tumblr to deliver the fun - let's go !

Magic: the Gathering - Ultra PRO DD Boxes
Ultra PRO Collectibles - Magic: The Gathering Speed vs. Cunning Duel Deck boxes!
http://www.ultrapro.com/division.php?d=g

Features 1 large Duel Deck Box with 2 Top Loading Deck Boxes and 1 Matching Divider per Deck box

Racing across the blazing steppe, the wave of attackers crests the barren hills. Nothing can stop their reckless advance. These warriors live fast, fight hard, and strike terror into the hearts of those in their path. The scarred countryside seems abandoned. Then, suddenly, hidden fighters spring from ambush. The overconfident enemy recoils in surprise, outflanked and outsmarted. Who will prevail, the swift or the sly?

Tumblr Thursday

~
Happy Thursday MTG peeps,

A special Thanksgiving greeting to our American cousins south of the border as well - a Happy Turkey to you and yours.  The mothersite today / tomorrow is revisiting previously published content as staff are off feasting 'n' feting with friends 'n' family.

As it is Thursday, we thought it an opportune time to catch up with our sister site, MTG Realm on Tumblr, which has been very busy delivering a miscellany of Magic: the Gathering items of interest.  Our Tumblr site has over 3,100 followers and post on average a few times daily.  Anywhoos - onto the latest from them . . .

Magic: the Gathering - Wooden Deck Boxes
Beautiful Magic the Gathering deck boxes carved by ‘Ales the Woodcarver ’ (aka Ales Janosik, fellow Canadian).  Ales is essentially self-taught and started carving in 2010.  You can check out his other works here -

Magic: the Gathering - Christmas Decorating
Totally approved by Martha Stewart (maybe).  You know those oversized Commander Cards you have kicking around - yep, those ones - they’re pretty, they’re foily (real word maybe) - get that shizzle up on your festive Christmas tree.
EDIT - I finally found out who this is from - credit goes to http://plnsfrstmtn.tumblr.com/

Magic: the Gathering - Born of the Gods

We now have the image and name of the special challenge deck that will be part of the sixth quest on the Hero’s Path will take place at the Magic: The Gathering, Born of the Gods Game Day, March 1–2, 2014.

The first challenge deck, ‘Face the Hydra’, required individual or a team of players to overcome the Hydra by eliminating all of its (ever regrowing) heads before it nom’d you.

We think a similar game of knocking down an ever growing horde of angry Minotaurs will be employed here at the Born of the Gods game day event

Magical Mosiac

~
Happy Tuesday MTG peeps,

Today's post features an impressive piece of Magic the Gathering art put together by 'BoPRocks', who apparently loves Birds of Paradise so much, he needed to have a massive wall mosiac of it.

Here's his work and some text from Mr.  'BoPRocks' -
This is a Birds of Paradise Mosaic that I built last summer. It used 2500 magic cards, and contained only nonland cards, of which there are no more than 25 of a given card. All told it took about 200-250 hours over the course of a couple months to get everything completed. The cards were glued onto thick construction paper sections, with each section being 100 cards. They are also covered with sealant to protect the sections.
~
You can find his full gallery here, and compliment him on Magic: the Redditing here.  Should you want to complete a herculean project like this, get your card fodder inexpensively at MTG Mint Card who carries card lots.
