Happy Thursday MTG peeps,
Magic: the Gathering's newest set, the Magic 2015 core set will be making a splash at your local gaming store next week (12th / 13th July) so make sure you clear your calendar if you can. If you are not certain where you can play in the upcoming M15 prerelease event, pop on over to the Store & Event Locator on the mothership. Here in town, OMG! Games will again be running a full weekend starting Friday midnight after the Friday Night Magic event.
Magic 2015 Prerelease packs are returning again for this event. Each Prerelease Pack will include the following:
• 5 Magic 2015 Core Set Booster Packs
• 1 Magic 2015 Core Set Seeded Booster Pack
• 1 premium promo card (five colours available)
• 1 activity insert
• 1 Spindown life counter
• 1 oversized Garruk Challenge Card
• 3 Wolf tokens
There is of course also a special challenge and depending upon your tournament organiser a variety of other fun in-store activities. Depending upon where you play, you may also win this awesome nerf Garruk's Axe.
Anywhoos - let's get on with today's new Magic 2015 spoilers 'n' previews !
Prismatic Runeguard, 3WW
Enchantment - Aura, Rare
Enchanted creature gets +2/+2 and has protection from all colors. This effect doesn't remove auras.
We've got a soft spot for auras and we like what we're seeing here - for our Commander decklist (Krond, the Dawn-Clad)
Kalonian Twingrove, 5G
Creature - Treefolk Warrior, Rare
Kalonian Twingrove's power and toughness are each equal to the number of Forests you control.
When Kalonian Twingrove enters the battlefield, put a green Treefolk Warrior creature token onto the battlefield with "This creature's power and toughness are each equal to the number of Forests you control."
Incredibly powerful late-game bomb in our opinion - we would like to see these monsters get trample to make us feel better about it.
Scuttling Doom Engine, 6
Artifact Creature - Construct, Rare
Scuttling Doom Engine can't be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less.
When Scuttling Doom Engine dies, it deals 6 damage to target opponnent.
We've got a feeling that we're looking at another late game bomb here. The six ping when this gets nerf'd is superb.
