Magic: the Gathering - SCG Playmat


Most MTG players already know that popular (and much meme’d) card and card art Tasigur, the Golden Fang illustrated by Chris Rahn.  What you may not know is that StarCityGames has another witty playmat which parodies that former Sultai Khan.  Check out the awesome kitteh illustration from ALRadeck for the StarCityGames Open Series.  Say meow to Tasipurr the Golden Paw which I’ve understood is to be available during SCG Season Three to event participants.

Magic: the Gathering - CF Ranked
The Power Rankings on Channel Fireball has always been a fairly accurate representation of what is on the tables at my local Friday Night Magic event.


Interesting comments on Den Protector which I think is spot on.  Not to gush here but I liked the card when it first came out and picked these up when it was going for under $2.  Now these fetch around the $10 mark.   : )

Wizards of the Coast produced these very limited (non-precious) pendants back in 2007 after the iconic Moxes (or moxen) and called it the Jewels Series which consisted of one boxed set of the following -
* Mox Jet Necklace
* Mox Pearl Necklace
* Mox Ruby Necklace
* Mox Emerald Necklace
* Mox Sapphire Necklace


If you have this complete still-in-the-box set, collecting dust on your shelf, you can sell it for approximately $600+ today.

We've not done a catch up article here on the main MTG Realm blog as to how our sister site MTG Realm on Tumblr has been doing.  Don't worry - she's fine and has just under 9,000 Followers making it one of the top Magic: the Gathering related blogs on Tumblr.  In fact, the MTG community on Tumblr is healthy and actually so popular that it has attracted the attention of Wizards of the Coast.  WotC staffers MaRo, Doug, Gavin and Matt have been riding the Tumblr machine as MTG / personal blogs for quite a while now but the company is now in the room.  Kinda like your mom 'n' dad coming home early while you and your friends (or gf/bf) are chill'n.  Hope it does not get weird or corporate but we don't anticipate this.

Magic: the Gathering - Suncatchers

Some very lovely craft work from VitriGeek.  Each piece is hand-cut and assembled on a clear backing, so that it works as either a mosaic on your wall or a suncatcher in the window. Each suncatcher is individually cut and assembled by hand, so there will be slight variations from piece to piece.  Each piece is approximately 4” in diameter, 1/4” thick, and weighs roughly 4 ounces.

A Magical Christmas

Happy Monday MTG peeps,

Tis the season so they say, and Magic: the Gathering fans are going all out this year it seems.  There have been more Christmas themed decorations, ornaments, Christmas trees and other festive indulgences than we can keep track of.  Here at MTG Realm, we've posted / reposted some of the offerings on our Tumblr Page but really cannot keep up.

One particular post to the Reddit Magic TCG page did catch our attention.  Redditor 'Schechefter' had fabricated a wonderful Nativity Scene prominently featuring rather appropriate Magic: the Gathering cards to substitute for Joseph, Mary, Baby J, the wise men and the stable critters - let's have a looky-loo -

Anax and Cymede (Theros Legendary) along with Child of Alara (Conflux Mythic Rare) are centre stage with the very appropriate Angel of Glory's Rise (Avacyn Restored promo).

The 'wise' men or Kings are all standard format legal and include King Macar, the Gold-Cursed, Briamaz, King of Oreskos, and Tymaret, the Murder King (perhaps not the safest guests to invite to a birthing).

Rounding out the cast of characters are the critters - namely Nyx-Fleece Ram, Camel, and Dwarven Pony.

Brilliant!  Great job by Schechefter.  If you are looking to get down to creating something similar for next year or even a closer holiday (Groundhog Day?), be sure to pop by MTG Mint Card to pick up some MTG singles to manifest your creativity.
