Happy Friday MTG peeps,
We are coming across some further unofficial Dark Ascension spoilers again today - we're guessing leaks from some stores perhaps. The official preview over on the mothership is another very interesting 'curse' card. The spoiler is now at 78/158 cards and we have a feeling that a large chunk of the remaining cards will be spoiled over the weekend with perhaps only a few outstanding before the Dark Ascension pre-release next weekend.
Anywhoos - let's have a look at today's batch of fresh and hot Magic the Gathering goodness. Just remember to treat these suspiciously until previewed officially by Wizards.
Increasing Ambition, 4
Search your library for a card and put that card into your hand. If Increasing Ambition was cast from a graveyard, instead search your library for two cards and put them into your hand. Then shuffle your library.
Nothing really eath-shattering here for folks in limited or standard constructed. We are thinking the EDH / Commander gamers are definitely interested.
: Add 1 to your mana pool.
2, , Sacrifice a creature: Draw a card.
We like this card as an additional / back-up sac outlet - thinking something along the lines of a Perlious Myr sac. This card may not be stellar for a lot of players but as there is not a lot of card draw tech in black and green, this may find a home.
Counter target spell. You may cast a card from your hand that shares a card type with that spell without paying its mana cost.
The translation is yet quite nailed down on this card hence a bit of confusion exists for us but as far as we can determine, it is along the line of counter target spell and play one for free. This will need to get revisited after we see the english version.
Curse of Bloodletting, 3rr
Enchantment - Aura Curse, Rare
If a source would deal damage to enchanted player, it deals double that damage instead.
Yep - this rocks. We are thinking this could shine if you nailed your tech correctly in your deck. The mana cost is a bit high (unless you can get out an Infernal Plunge) but promises to reward the player who may have a reliable pinger. Good possibly in limited and the jury is out for standard. We might give this a try in an INFECT build.
Elbrus, the Binding Blade, 7
Legendary Artifact - Equipment, Mythic Rare
Equipped creature gets +1/+0.
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, transform Elbrus, the Binding Blade.
Withengar Unbound ()
Legendary Creature - Demon
Flying, trample, intimidate
Whenever a player loses the game, put thirteen +1/+1 counters on Withengar Unbound.
Here's a card which has no image yet, just rumours which the source claims as reliable. The transformed card here looks to have been tailored for casual multi-player - similar to that of the Conflux rare, Blood Tyrant.
Two more leaked card here as well. Coloured us impressed with the new Uncommon multi-coloured quasi-Lords.
Diregraf Captain, 1
Creature - Zombie Soldier, Uncommon
Other Zombie creatures you control get +1/+1.
Whenever another Zombie you control dies, target opponent loses 1 life.
: Add 1 to your mana pool.
3, , Sacrifice Havengul Fengraf: Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
