Happy Wednesday MTG peeps,
Gatecrash PreRelease is the following weekend so make sure you've made plans with your local gaming store and see if they need a reservation. Our local store, OMG! Games here in Barrie, Ontario is preparing for that epic weekend and has already installed all the new guild banners.
Let's move on to all the latest Magic: the Gathering spoilers and previews for today from the Mothersite and around the web !
~Molten Primordial, 5rr
Creature - Avatar, Rare
Haste
When Molten Primordial enters the battlefield, for each opponent, take control of up to one target creature that player controls until end of turn. Untap those creatures. They have haste until end of turn.
6/4
Magic Titans preview. Is it just us or are you guys feeling that there is a large number of Gatecrash cards cattering to the EDH / Commander crowd? This is another gem those fans are sure to enjoy in the tall stack format. If you are thinking standard, you better ramp like heck to get to this punchline.
~Thespian's Stage
Land, Rare
{T}: Add 1 to your mana pool.
2, {T}: Thespian's Stage becomes a copy of target land and gains this ability.
Mothersite preview. Sweet mother of Vesuva, this card looks great. Fans of Modern, EDH and other formats will all likely agree on this point. Too bad Cloudpost is banned in Modern though but hey - how about Valakut. Not much of a bang for current standard.
~Merciless Eviction, 4wb
Sorcery, Rare
Choose one - Exile all artifacts; or exile all creatures; or exile all enchantments; or exile all planeswalkers.
MTG Twitter preview. Aurelia quote on the flavour text is awesome. We would have preferred a five mana cost sweeper but this is now what you have to pay to be able to exile your choice of permanent type instead of them going to the 'yard. This might go into sideboards against a mirror-match, but we think most players may choose Terminus over this.
~Orzhov Charm, wb
Instant, Uncommon
Choose one - Return target creature you control and all Auras you control attached to it to their owners' hands; or destroy target creature and you lose life equal to that creature's toughness; or return target creature card with converted mana cost 1 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield.
LigaMagic preview. The first choice is excellent to save your critter and its auras from removal while the Vendetta choice may be worth it against a troublesome threat. It should be noted that if there was an unfriendly aura like Stab Wound, this is the remedy. As for the third choice here, there are a few one-drop creatures like Deathrite Shaman, we would love to reanimate from the yard.
~Ætherize, 3u
Instant, Uncommon
Return all attacking creatures to their owners' hands.
MTG Japan preview. This may be good tech against undying and haste creatures and will shine against your opponent's attacking army of tokens. A great follow up to this would be playing Blind Obedience on your turn. We'll be getting this in our 4x Uncommon / Common bulk lot at MTG Mint Card.
~Slaughterhorn, 2g
Creature - Beast, Common
Bloodrush - {G}, Discard Slaughterhorn: Target attacking creature gets +3/+2 until end of turn.
3/2
Mothersite preview. Another card with some awesome flavour text on it. This appears to be another good common for Gruul's Bloodrush tech. On a side note, we think a lot of Modern Infect players are watching all these new bloodrush cards quite closely.
~
Firefist Striker, 1r
Creature - Human Soldier, Uncommon
Battalion - Whenever Firefist Striker and at least two other creatures attack, target creature can't block this turn.
2/1
SCG Facebook preview. Looks to be designed for limited and not a bad addition to the Boros Battalion lineup.
