New DoTP Decks

WoTC Monty today on Magic Arcana just announced two new decks for Magic the Gathering fans of the popular Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 digital games. These will be available for approximately $3 for PC (via Steam), XBox and PS3. Check out the announcement (here) on the mothership for target release dates. To get the full list of all available DoTP deck lists and game unlocks, check out the main page here.

Anywhoos - here are the two new deck lists to be available. If you are not a fan of digital games in general, you may still want to dig into your card collection and build around these lists. The first one, March to War, looks like a fun build with good removal and a solid aggro base with lifegain. The 'Ghoulkeeper' list has a heavy Zombie theme and perhaps may be a bit janky at first glance but may still deliver on the fun factor.

Today we have news which may make electronic gamers who love Magic the Gathering very happy as well as some potential New Phyrexia art spoilers.

Wizards of the Coast and their gaming partners will release Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 on Xbox LIVE© Arcade, PC/Steam and PlayStation® Network in summer of 2011. Features announced will include all new game modes, Planeswalker opponents, decks, puzzle challenges and other exciting new features including a new-to-digital multiplayer game mode called Archenemy where players gather up to two allies and team up against the AI (artificial intellegence). Next up -

We strongly suggest you check out today's Savour the Flavour article on Wizards. In it, MTG resident art guru, Richard Whitters sits down with MTG artists Jana Schirmer & Johannes Voss for some milk and cookies. Here at MTG Realm we are of course all about casual Magic the Gathering but we have to admit we have a love for flavour / storyline and of course the amazing art that Wizards puts on their cards. We will also admit playing sub-optimal cards in a 60-card build based soley on art or how coo the card name is . . . it just looks sooo good sometimes on a game table.

Anywhoos - back onto the point - in today's article, there are some arts (from Jana Schirmer & Johannes Voss) which we really do not recognise at all and strongly suspect are from the upcoming New Phyrexia set . . . we smell spoilers. Richard indicates that although Janna and Hannes have only completed five Magic cards for Wizards to date, they have 17 either in the works or already completed.

Here are three arts we strongly suspect will belong to cards in New Phryexia . . . speculate away !

Someone has been shopping at the Phyrexian outlet store.

A bust of Karn - chances are we will finally see him as a legendary creature in the New Phyrexia set.

A Myr Titan ? Hopefully the Myr legendary some players have been wanting to see.

We're taking a quick break from Magic 2010 spoilers today to yatter about another new Wizards of the Coast Product - Duels of the Planeswalker - paper edition decks. We first posted about this last month and with the release just last weekend, got our paws on the Chandra Nalaar deck, courtesy of a friend of ours (thanks JS @ PN !).

This is a classic and well loved deck build. My red Mage approves. This is a solid deck for new and experienced players and makes for some great games. Our only complaint is that Chandra Nalaar was not included.
