Monday Miscellany

~
Happy Monday MTG peeps,

We're rather glad to have gotten out to OMG! Games on Friday as we kinda got simply buried over the course of the weekend but especially today.  The standard list we brought along (white weenie) did not too badly.  We think there are more highways closed than open in the region right now.  Anywhoos, for today's post, let's just roll through some miscellaneous  Magic: the Gathering items (of course with an interest to the upcoming Born of the Gods set).

First up - we want to give you a wrap-up of the full Ultra PRO Born of the Gods product line-up.  Be sure to check out MTG Mint Card for the best prices.

Lastly,
We know that Born of the Gods Game Day is not until the weekend of March 1st / 2nd but we just gotta say that (first place) champion prize playmat is pretty dang sweet.  The illustration by Michael Komarck really rocks.  Also - if you have a thingy for MTG Minotaurs, make sure your calendar is clear so you can play against the 'Battle the Hordes' Game Day deck.

MTG Tumblr Time

Happy Friday MTG peeps,

We'll be at OMG! Games here in Barrie tonight with our latest Magic: the Gathering standard brew so look for us there.  Tonight at OMG! Games is also the last Friday that they will be providing a random prize giveaway of a Dragon's Maze booster box at the start of the 3rd round - so may the odds ever be in our, - I mean your favor.

Anywhoos - We did not get around to get to a Tumblr summary in this week's daily posts to MTG Realm so we'll correct that now.   Here's a few posts to our sister site, MTG Realm on Tumblr covering a wide range of miscellany such as M14 spoilers, promos, news, rumors, and funny gamer stuff - let's go.

Magic: the Gathering - WOOD!
Srsly - this must be the most epic MTG storage card box / case combo I’ve seen.  Still tracking down who did this beautiful work but I suspect it may be Geek Chic work.

Magic: the Gathering - Angelic Card Storage
Reddit use krello posted this lovely card case he recently got for his birthday from his wife.  She had created the entire case, including card dividers.  The beautiful art on the front is of course Johannes Voss’ Restoration Angel which was wood-burned into the case front.  The entire project took approximately 2 months in her spare time.

Magic: the Gathering - Zendikar Gear
Zendikar is a world of adventure and reward for those with the courage to brave its perils - click these links - You’re gonna need the right gear to survive.
• Expedition Map
• Adventuring Gear
• Trailblazer’s Boots
• Explorer’s Scope
• Trusty Machete
• Grappling Hook

Zendikar, setting for the block of the same name, is a plane with powerful sources of mana, which flows differently there. Its landscape is constantly shifting and changing. This process is called The Roil. This makes settlements very scarce and only few outposts of civilization are present. Its riches in mana and other wealth has made it a destination for Planeswalkers to explore and exploit. The promise of this is also enough to lure in various local explorers and adventurers.

Modern Masters Update

~
Happy Monday MTG peeps,

A quick update today for you.  We have another card Magic: the Gathering players should be happy with which was previewed today by WotC Bob Maher on the mothersite.

Modern Masters is a booster-based specialty set containing cards which are legal in the Modern format. It will be released on June 7, 2013.  Modern Masters is a 229 card set consisting of reprints of cards originally printed between Eighth Edition and Alara Reborn. Every card would be legal in Modern format and of course the other formats in which the sets are legal from which the cards originate. The idea behind the design was to fulfill the player demand of reprinting certain cards to make them more easily available to current or prospective Modern players, without re-introducing those cards into Standard.  We still have a lot of cards to go before the full reveal and already want to get a singles (or decksets) from MTG Mint Card.
~
Anywhoos - let's get on with today's new card - Dark Confident will be joining the 3 other known (or strongly suspected) cards - Tarmogoyf, City of Brass and Aether Spellbomb.

~
In other related news, WotC 'Trick also had a post to the mothersite's Magic Arcana showing a very lovely Modern Masters UltraPRO box (and sleeves!) in which to horde all your awesome new cards.  The City of Brass art from Jung Park is spectacular.
