Oath of the Gatewatch Previews 1-07

Happy Thursday MTG peeps,

With many (all) local gaming stores closed up last week on Friday January 1st, some may be jonesing for a little bit of Friday Night Magic action - we know we are.  We did not get a whole lot of Magic: the Gathering gaming in over the Holidays and hope we won't get too crushed tomorrow at OMG! Games & Collectibles here in Barrie, Ontario.

Anywhoos, we should be seeing the Ultra PRO product offerings for Oath of the Gatewatch come out tomorrow as well, but for now, let's review the previews for OGW that went live today - 

Matter Reshaper, 2◊
Creature - Eldrazi, Rare
(◊ represents colorless mana.)
When Matter Reshaper dies, reveal the top card of your library. You may put that card onto the battlefield if it's a permanent card with converted mana cost 3 or less. Otherwise, put that card into your hand.

Mothersite Preview - We would have loved this if they had just had it look at the top three cards of your library - that would have been a rare.  This one just kinda sucks unless you had a way to manipulate the top card of your library, perhaps with a scry ability.

Enchantment, Rare
Whenever you tap a land for mana, add one mana to your mana pool of any type that land produced. (The types of mana are white, blue, black, red, green, and colorless.)
Whenever you cast a creature spell, draw a card.

Mothersite Preview - This thing is coming down waaay to late for standard constructed to make any difference but we would most definitely consider this in a Commander list.  Appreciate that this also taps for ◊.

Reaver Drone - Mana Deprived Preview.  A 2/1 Eldrazi Drone for just one B ain't bad - just make sure you have a strong colourless theme in your list so you don't get dinged that one life each turn.


Expedite - Wizards Twitter Preview. LOVE THIS.  Excellent instant for one R giving your critter haste until turn's end AND giving you a card draw.  (Sorry about the reversed image there - no idea what happened).
