MTG Potpourri

~
You may be asking yourself - what assortment of goodies MTG-Realm may have for a MTG Potpourri post . . . well just read on.

We have another installment of 'What I'm Playing', a quick look at the new 'Learn to Play' Magic: The Gathering products as well as another poke at a new Shards of Alara Conflux spoiler . . . Let's go.

~
Here's a take on the 'Bant Crasher' deck by yours truly. It has a fairly balanced mana curve, some hard hitters, some control and a whole lot of fun.

Personally, I just love the combo with Stoic Angel and Murkfiend Liege. While tapping down all but one of your opponent's critters, Murkfiend allows all your Blue and/or Green buddies to untap during theri upkeep.

With the sole critter your opponent chooses not to tap, you can Snake Form it into a harmless 1/1 critter with no abilities and then push your pumped up Shorecrahser Mimic into the fray to deliver the hit. Have Rafiq of the Many to provide double strike to the Mimic and your game is as good as won.

The deck has performed 'not that badly' in play-testing but just like Grand-Ma typically said 'Always pack a parachute'. To this end, we have included a pair of Empyrial Archangel, and a few others which I have not provided here.

I do rather like inserting a Steel of the Godhead into this mix. I recently had a great game with Steel on the Rhox Warmonk to deliver a pumped-up unblockable with DOUBLE lifelink . . . so win (!).

Here are the new 'Learn to Play' Magic: The Gathering packs I had alluded to earlier. There are a total of 5 for each colour and comes ready to play with mana in a 40-card deck.

The purpose of these decks to to put the basics of the game into the hands of a beginner. Let's have a quick look at the white deck.

From this mix (containing generally all commons with a few uncommons), we can see that the basics of lifelink, flying, and first strike are here in a selection of creatures, enchantments, sorceries, and intstants.

If you are starting to play, hook up with your local game store to get a quick lesson and one of these packs (which should be free to beginners).

And finally, for those spoiler-nutters out there, thanks for wading through the post so far . . . your reward - another Conflux spoiler from the boards.

Voracious Dragon, 3RR
Creature-Dragon
Flying
Devour 1
When Voracious Dragon comes into play, it deals damage equal to twice the number of Goblins it devoured to target creature or player.
4/4

Stay tuned for more MTG goodness.
