Commander PreRelease

Happy Monday MTG peeps,

We were going to yatter about some of the newly emerged decks from the recent (StarCity Games) SCG Open Series Orlando this past weekend, but wanted first to bring a spoiler from the new Commander (formerly Elder Dragon Highlander or EDH) product from Wizards.

Just recently, someone had snaped a few images of the Commander PreRelease poster - most likely at the French gaming store Parence. In it, we can make out some partial card images from the soon to be released set.


We know that there will be five oversized foil (!) promo cards -
Edric, Spymaster of Trest (/), Basandra, Battle Seraph (/), Skullbriar, the Walking Grave (/), Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter (/), and Nin, the Pain Artist (/).

Furthermore, we have some details of Basandra - unfortunately not the power and toughness.

As the Commander Pre-Release is quickly approaching, we suggest you mark your calendars for June 17-20, 2011 and find a local store where you can play using the handy event locator from Wizards of the Coast.

Also - a quick review of our previous post regarding the Commander pre-cons (pre-constructed ready to play decks) :

Heavenly Inferno //

Heavenly Inferno appears to be supplying some flyer. We can make out a Kaalia of the Vast, and unknown, and Oros, the Avenger.

Mirror Mastery //

Mirror Mastery looks to be packing a Riku of Two Refelction, and unknown and Intet, the Dreamer.

Counterpunch //

This one we hope we have all the names for - they are Ghave, Guru of Spores, Karandor, Ghost Chieftain, and Teneb, the Harvester.

Political Puppets //

Interesting name here - it looks like we have a Zedruu the Greathearted (Minotaur Monk?!? FTW), and unknown, and Numot, the Devastator.

Devour for Power //

This bad boy has The Mimeoplasm, and unknown, and Vorosh, the Hunter.
