~
Hello my peeps,Another six Magic the Gathering Zendikar spoilers today. Today, we have two preview cards from WoTC and three preview cards from the Spanish Magazine CanTrip. Strap yourselves in and lets go . . .
~
Bala Ged Thief, 3
Creature - Human Rogue Ally, Rare
Whenever Bala Ged Thief or another Ally enters the battlefield under your control, target player reveals a number of cards from his or her hand equal to the number of Allies you control. Choose one of them. That player discards that card.
2/2
Apparently there may be more to Zendikar black than just vampires. There be rogue ally as well. So far to date in the spoiler season, the subtype ally has not made a big splash (compared to vampires) but given that there are a total of 41 mentions of Ally from the Orb of Insight, we think that this will be hitting casual and constructed tables everywhere. Bala Ged Thief is a decent discard but certainly no Tidehollow Sculler.
Crypt of Agadeem
Land, Rare
Crypt of Agadeem enters the battlefield tapped.
: Add to your mana pool.
2, : Add to your mana pool for each black creature card in your graveyard.
After all the dust has settled, we want to post a summary of what one would have to pay for a decks et of every rare land in Zendikar . . . we think you'd need a loan perhaps. Anywho, the crypt is one sweet card and promises to see popular play, especially in those mono-black vamp decks we will be seeing.
Devout Lightcaster,
Creature - Kor Cleric, Rare
Protection from black
When Devout Lightcaster enters the battlefield, exile target black permanent.
2/2
Wow - this is nice. If only Light From Within were not rotating out, this would be HUGE. So not only is this pro-black but it also kicks a black PERMANENT out of the game when it slides into play. Hopefully there will be some Kor lord to pump up the power / toughness on this, if not, you had better get a set of Honor of the Pure to prevent big burn / removal.
Oracle of Mul Daya, 3
Creature - Elf Shaman, Rare
You can play one additional land on each of your turns.
Play with the top card of your library revealed.
You may play the top card of your library if it's a land card.
2/2
This is the bee's knees in any deck feturing landfall mechanic. This can also be very useful in any deck needing mana-ramp. The only hideous drawback . . playing with your top card revealed so your opponent knows what big sick stick is coming out to hit them.
Pitfall Trap, 2
Instant - Trap, Uncommon
If exactly one creature is attacking, you may pay instead of paying Pitfall Trap's mana cost.
Destroy target attacking creature without flying.
This card is basically kicking those Alara Bant decks exalted right in the junk. Not sure whether this will be making popular casual play however, there are a lot better removal cards out there (for now at least).
Sphinx of Lost Truths, 3
Creature - Sphinx, Rare
Kicker 1 (You may pay an additional 1 as you cast this spell)
Flying
When Sphinx of Lost Truths enters the battlefield, draw three cards. Then if it wasn't kicked, discard three cards.
3/5
We strongly suggest you pay the kicker here, unless of course you have no cards in hand, then feel free to pay just the casting cost. This is really decent card draw providing solid card advantage which is never a bad thing. The only consideration again is that with Mulldrifter rotating out of standard this appears to be the only replacement unless you want to play a bunch of Ponders.
Remember to stay tuned to our continually updated Zendikar spoiler list HERE.
