Happy Thursday MTG peeps,
Welcome to day 4 of official Dragon's Maze previews. The set which is due out on 3 May, 2013 has Magic: the Gathering players around the world rather excited. Yesterday on the MTG Realm Blog was great - over 8,000 readers dropped by check out all the great new cards which included three of the new Legendary 'maze runners'. Today, we have two more legendary creatures from Dimir and Golgari. Make sure you check back latter for updates to this post as well as our sister site MTG Realm on Tumblr. Let's get to it then . . .
~
Varolz, the Scar-Striped, 1bg
Legendary Creature - Troll Warrior, Rare
Each creature card in you graveyard has scavenge. The scavenge cost is equal to its mana cost.
Sacrifice another creature: Regenerate Valroz, the Scar-Striped.
2/2
We really, really like this legendary Golgari champion. As with most trolls, Varolz is able to regen - with a sac in this instance, and the 2/2 body for three is decent considering this. Gravy here is the scavenge tech. Expect to see this make a splash at your local FNM.
~
Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker, 3ub
Legendary Creature - Vampire, Rare
Flying
Whenever Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker deals combat damage to a player, that player reveals cards from the top of his or her library until he or she reveals four land cards, then puts those cards into his or her graveyard.
2/4
Hello Dimir Legendary! This previews from Loading Ready Run. It's a 2/4 flyer for five and when it lands damage on life, it's milling time. We approve! - now to find something which gives it hexproof and unblockable - yeah - we're that greedy.
~
Flesh / Blood, 3BG / RG
Sorcery, Rare
Exile target creature from a graveyard, put X +1/+1 counters on target creature. X equal to the power of target card you exiled this way.
Fuse (You may cast one or both halves of this card from your hand.)
Target creature you control deals damage equal to its power to target creature or target player.
This preview from Taiwan MTG site CardWalker. We think more players would go right-side on this Fuse spell and it offers relatively inexpensive spot removal. We'll whine however that we would have liked to see this as an instant instead. Overall, solid card.
~
Obzedat's Aid, 3wb
Sorcery, Rare
Return target permanent card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
This preview from French site Watch da Match. When Unburial Rites rotates out of standard, gamers will look to this to fill in the blank - unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will quite fill the void.
~
Zhur-Taa Ancient, 3rg
Creature - Beast, Rare
Whenever a player taps a land for mana, that player adds one mana to his or her mana pool of any type that land produced.
7/5
This is a fatty we can get behind - aggressively costed with a solid body. The drawback here is of course your opponent's have access to more mana as you do - Just make sure you can fill your hands and drop spells quicker.
~
Sire of Insanity, 4br
Creature - Demon, Rare
At the beginning of each end step, each player discards his or her hand.
6/4
Here's a Channel Fireball preview. Sorry but the MTG Realm jury is out on this one until we can figure how best to abuse this. Personally, we would cry if we had to build from a sealed pool with this.
~
Breaking / Entering, ub / 4br
Sorcery, Rare
Target player puts the top eight cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
- Fuse (You may cast one or both halves of this card from your hand.)-
Put a creature card from a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control. It gains haste until end of turn.
This fuse card will be the Dragon's Maze Launch promo. This has some decent utility to mill / self mill with a (slightly overcosted) ability to recycle that monster from anyone's 'yard - not too bad.
~
Blood Scrivener, 1b
Creature - Zombie Wizard, Rare
If you would draw a card while you have no cards in hand, instead draw two cards and lose 1 life.
2/1
There are quite a few Zombies which we would likely not want to see late game as the effects increasingly become more 'meh' - but this little gem is definitely OK.
~
Bred for the Hunt, 1GU
Enchantment, Uncommon
Whenever a creature you control with a +1/+1 counter on it deals combat damage to a player, you may draw a card.
BJ Shea's Geek Nation preview. Elusive Krasis just got a new friend here - unblockable with a card draw bonus from this 3-drop enchantment looks delicious.
~
Explosive Finale (spelling?), 1br
Instant, Uncommon
Until end of turn, creatures you control gain "When this creature dies, it deals 2 damage to target creature an opponent controls."
This preview from Brazillian site LiagaMagic. The spelling may be off due to translation so check back latter.
~
Rot Farm Skeleton, 2bg
Creature - Plant Skeleton, Uncommon
Rot Farm Skeleton can't block.
2{B}{G}, Put the top four cards of your library into your graveyard: Return Rot Farm Skeleton from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery.
4/1
This preview from IItalian site magicfriends.net and the card art from Maciej Kuciara is epic.
~
Turn / Burn, 2u / 1r
Instant, Uncommon
Target creature loses all abilities and becomes a 0/1 red Weird until end of turn.
- Fuse (You may cast one or both halves of this card from your hand.) -
Burn deals 2 damage to target creature or player.

the only combo so far i see with "sire of Insanity" is to use it with "blood scrivener." might also be okay with "soul ransom." The cost for the "sire" is too high unless reanimated.
I could see obzedat's aid in an Esper Control deck. get back a jace or tamiyo
This is cool!
