Hello again MTG peeps,
This is our second post today to the MTG Realm blog - our earlier post covered off the promo cards you can expect with this, the newest Magic the Gathering set, Gatecrash. There is another full salvo of previews today on the motheriste as well as other sources, so let's get to it!
~
Gideon, Champion of Justice, 2ww
Planeswalker - Gideon, Mythic Rare
+1: Put a loyalty counter on Gideon, Champion of Justice for each creature target opponent controls.
0: Until end of turn, Gideon becomes an indestructible Human Soldier creature with power and toughness each equal to the number of loyalty counters on him. He's still a planeswalker. Prevent all damage that would be dealt to him this turn.
-15: Exile all other permanents.
4
Finally! We now have the new Gideon PW and the very first thing that stands out is the '0' ability which is somewhat reminiscent of old Gideon's ability to turn into an indestructible human soldier creature with power and toughness equal to that of his loyalty counters. The first ability provides an astounding pile of additional loyalty counters equal to the number of critters your opponent controls. As for the third, although skeptical, we think that Gideon may in fact actually get to 15 counters occasionally.
~Biovisionary (spelling?), 1gu
Creature - Human Wizard, Rare
At the beginning of each end step, if you control four or more creatures named Biovisionary, you win the game.
2/3
This preview courtesy of Tomohiro Kaji on MTG Japan. Another very interesting Simic card which we won't be able to nail down just yet until we see the English version. Essentially, three mana nets you a fairly ugly-looking 2/3 Human Wizard and an alternate win condition - Collect all four Biovisionary critters, and you win the game.
~Angel Skirmisher (spelling?), 4ww
Creature - Angel, Rare
Flying
At the beginning of each combat, choose first strike, vigilance or lifelink.
Creatures you control gain the chosen ability until end of turn.
4/4
This Gatecrash card is a preview from the German site Magic Extreme. For six mana, you get a flying 4/4 angel with a rather interesting ability - one of three different 'gifts' you can bestow upon your creatures before EACH combat step. The decision to make is whether you prefer lifelink, vigilance, or first strike. The double white in the cost lends preference to a mono white build but with all the amazing choices of dual lands in standard presently, a player could easily accommodate two or even three colours.

Here's a round-up of a few other previews today. We'll catch up with the others in latter posts including Zameck Guildmage, Hands of Binding and Gruul Keyrune. All we can say is that Dimir is looking damn smexy!
Consuming Aberration, 3ub
Creature - Horror, Rare
Consuming Aberration's power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards in your opponents' graveyards.
Whenever you cast a spell, each opponent reveals cards from the top of his or her library until he or she reveals a land card, then puts those cards into his or her graveyard.
*/*
Nightveil Specter, (u/b)(u/b)(u/b)
Creature - Specter, Rare
Flying
Whenever Nightveil Specter deals combat damage to a player, that player exiles the top card of his or her library.
You may play cards exiled with Nightveil Specter.
2/3
Skarrg Goliath, 6gg
Creature - Beast, Rare
Trample
Bloodrush - 5{G}{G}, Discard Skarrg Goliath: Target attacking creature gets +9/+9 and gains trample until end of turn.
9/9
Clan Defiance, xrg
Sorcery, Rare
Choose one or more - Clan Defiance deals X damage to target creature with flying; Clan Defiance deals X damage to target creature without flying; and/or Clan Defiance deals X damage to target player.
