If you have not already, we suggest you make tracks over to Wizards right now (after reading our post of course) and check out today's Magic Arcana (linky HERE).We received our very first Rise of the Eldrazi Spoiler (full card) in this very neat and creative animation. Essentially, you click on the Eye itself in the Eye of Ugin art and then something very wonderful happens - An Eldrazi (somewhat irritated by being imprisoned for so long), starts wrecking the screen - great job Wizards !
Anywhoos - Here is the clip from today's article - The Secrets of the Eye : Daily MTG : Magic: The Gathering . . .
The Eye of Ugin.
What is it, really? The flavor text of Ghostfire says "Only those gifted with the eye of Ugin, the spirit dragon, can see his fiery breath." But that makes it sound like a physical eye. Which is only fair. After all, Ugin presumably has (or is it had?) at least one eye, whoever he is.
But what about the legendary land? What is it? Where is it? And what secrets does it hold? Well, we're about to show you.
First you'll get a good look at the Eye of Ugin, then, when your curiosity has consumed you and you absolutely can take no more suspense, go ahead and click on it. But beware! Because the secrets of the Eye are not for the faint-hearted!
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, 10
Legendary Creature - Eldrazi, Mythic Rare
When you cast Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, draw four cards.
Annilihator 4 (Whenever this creature attacks, defending player sacrifices four permanents.)
When Kozilek is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library.
12/12
6/248
OK - Let's just let that settle in for a moment . .
Right - It's a whopping 12/12 for 10 mana - so it's well into the 'fatty' range. Also - it's a legendary creature so we know the EDH folks out there are already evaluating it. It doesn't take a dirt nap but simply gets shuffled back into your library WITH everything else that happens to be in there at that time.
The mechanic spoiler - 'Annihilator' - very decent - you swing and then defending player sacs critters - very tough to defend against this.
And finally - check out the card number - "6/248" - what the heck does this mean ??? At this location, one is usually still expecting white cards - at least until the 23rd or 24th slot in the set. Can this mean that we are looking at an entirely colourless set ?? We don't think so as we were under the impression that Rise of the Eldrazi was meant to be a set that could be drafted by itself.
Big questions here - drop in a comment and let's start speculating . . .

Way cool! I only have one thing to say to you: Polymorph-time! :D
ReplyDeleteNah, won't be entirely colorless I guess. This guy is a colorless creature, no artifact. So guessing this is the first time WotC introduces a colorless creature. Maybe they put them in front of the white cards and the rest of the color cards will be after these Eldrazi guys.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that Polymorph won't trigger the card drawing ability.
ReplyDeletelooks like you get to draw four cards even if it's countered, kickbutt
ReplyDeleteBut getting a 12/12 in turn 3-4, is pretty nasty. :D And if it eventually dies, you will just reset your polymorphing. ;)
ReplyDeletethis isnt the first time WotC introduced a colorless creature. Walking atlas in WWK is colorless if u didnt know. and walking atlas is put in right at the end of WWK, in front of the land.
ReplyDeletewalking atlas was revised to be an artifact creature, check your card erratas :)
ReplyDeletewalking atlas is a artifact creature that card was misprinted
ReplyDeleteto anonymous 7:33:
ReplyDeleteWalking Atlas has errata - it is artifact creature.
Walking Atlas is an artifact creature as it received errata before the set was released.
ReplyDeletewalking atlas is and artifact
ReplyDeletemaybe for the first time they will be putting all the mythics together first, then the rest of the set.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Walking Atlas was a Freudian slip.
ReplyDeleteThe set won't be entirely colourless, unless they are planning to place eldrazi in another standard set.
ReplyDeleteRemember Eye of Ugin says
COLOURLESS eldrazi spells cost 2 less to cast.
This means either they are putting eldrazi in two or more sets, or ROE isn't completely colourless
Actually the "COLOURLESS" in "COLOURLESS eldrazi spells" might just be there to prevent Changeling spells from getting the bonuses.
ReplyDeletenow lets just hope that elvish piper gets re-printed
ReplyDeleteelvish piper is in m10
ReplyDeleteI think that the Walking Atlas misprint is a hint that WOTC would print colorless non-artifact creature.
ReplyDeletei found some other spoilers... this is indeed card number 6 but it is not a completely colorless set... i found 1 card of each color in the spoiler i looked at... including a 2nd eldrazi pathrazer of (forgot the last word)... but the eldrazis look like theyre gonna be the most brutal cards in the set... like sack tapping ur opponent with a 12/12... anhilator isnt as good as novablat wurms effect yet it is... it kill permanents not just creatures EPIC!!! and its every time... imagine kozelik and novablast at the same time... clear the board please bitch... u take 19 to the groin and i piss myself laughing with a win on my name... shake hands gg... ;)
ReplyDeleteHow would he take 19 if you destroy your own 12/12?
ReplyDeleteforgot about that... well u cood indestructibility him
