Gatecrash Spoilers 11

~
Happy Thursday MTG peeps,

Tonight is EDH / Commander evening at our local gaming store, OMG! Games here in Barrie, Ontario (Canada-Land).  We almost can't wait any longer to get a hold of some of these new Gatecrash cards into the decks we run on Thursday evening but as the old adage goes, good things come to those who wait or some such nonsense.  Speaking of adage, let's talk about something sounding almost similar to that - 'Adephaga' (or beetles) - here's a giant beetle from today's new Gatecrash spoilers 'n' previews !

~
Giant Adephage, 5gg
Creature - Insect, mythic rare
Trample
Whenever Giant Adephage deals combat damage to a player, put a token into play that's a copy of Giant Adephage.
7/7

TCG Player preview.  Although this might not make the cut as a late game finisher for standard, we still love the opportunity provided here for an EDH / Commander build.  Some players may think of this to assist in their Simic evolve but we wouldn't go there as there are certainly better cards.

~

Diluvian Primordial, 5uu
Creature - Avatar, Rare
Flying
When Diluvian Primordial enters the battlefield, for each opponent, you may cast up to one target instant or sorcery card from that player's graveyard without paying its mana cost. If a card cast this way would be put into a graveyard this turn, exile it instead.
5/5

SCG Preview by the legendary Sheldon Menery.  This looks to be sweet in an EDH / Commander build and would love if you would blink it with Cloudshift or the like.  We're dropping over to MTG Mint Card to get a copy of Deadeye Navigator now.

Gyre Sage, 1g
Creature - Elf Druid, Rare
Evolve (Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, if that creature has greater power or toughness than this creature, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature.)
{T}: Add {G} to your mana pool for each +1/+1 counter on Gyre Sage.
1/2

Mothersite preview. We're rather excited to finally have a card to ramp with. This certainly not insane though as we can't really see this being terribly productive until a turn or two latter.  Having said that, we still want to set up something along the lines of Arbor Elf, Somberwald Sage, Increasing Savagery and a massive bomb.

Crableg Shark, gu
Creature - Crab Fish, Common
Flash
Evolve (Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, if that creature has greater power or toughness than this creature, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature.)
2/1

This courtesy of the Taiwan / Hongkong MTG Facebook group.  Dang!  We are loving the crazy Simic hybrids here.  This sweet flash and evolve makes the cut here and should see some play.  Personally, we want to go try out a linear evolve progression or a sneaky combat / suprise blocker trick here.

~

Ghor-Clan Rampager, 2rg
Creature - Beast, Uncommon
Trample
Bloodrush - {R}{G}, Discard Ghor-Clan Rampager: Target attacking creature gets +4/+4 and gains trample until end of turn.
4/4

Mothersite preview.  Watch out kids if your opponent has a red and a green open after declaring attackers as this is going to be a very decent combat trick.  Trample makes this card just stand out and we're certain that players will see this in limited and perhaps even in standard.

~

Thrull Parasite, b
Creature - Thrull, Uncommon
Extort (Whenever you cast a spell, you may pay {W/B}. If you do, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain that much life.)
{T}, Pay 2 life: Remove a counter from target nonland permanent.
1/1

Mothersite Card Image Gallery.  This looks to be a decent one-drop Extort creature if you are looking to get this ability one line early.  This may also be able to take care of Planeswalkers by knocking off a loyalty counter but unfortunately, it will only remove one instead of all like Zendikar's Vampire Hexmage.

~

Leyline Phantom, 4u
Creature - Illusion, Common
Whenever Leyline Phantom deals combat damage, return it to its owner's hand.
5/5

Mothersite Card Image Gallery.  Although this may enable your evolve tech and an OK choice for an attacker / blocker in limited, we don't think that this may help you win the battle.
