BNG Spoilers 1-14

~
Happy Tuesday MTG peeps,

Welcome to day two, week one of Born of the Gods previews.  For all official Magic: the Gathering previews, be sure to pop over to the mothersite or the 'regular' sites who may have exclusive previews.  As usual, we here at MTG Realm will drop all of the day's previews on a single page but recommend that you visit our sister site MTG Realm on Tumblr as we will occasionally post Born of the Gods spoilers 'n' previews as they come in.  Anywhoos - here are today's new MTG goodness along with our drivel -

~
Mogis, God of Slaughter, 2br
Legendary Enchantment Creature — God, Mythic Rare
Indestructible
As long as your devotion to black and red is less than seven, Mogis isn't a creature.
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, Mogis deals 2 damage to that player unless he or she sacrifices a creature.
7/5

Gathering Magic preview.  Absolutely fantastic / insanely good card here.  If this sticks on the battlefield, Aggro will take a dent and Control will be put on a clock.  We're going to MTG Mint Card to complete our deckset of Desecration Demon.

~

Tromokratis, 5uu
Legendary Creature — Kraken, Rare
Tromokratis has hexproof unless it's attacking or blocking.
Tromokratis can't be blocked unless all creatures defending player controls block it. (If any creature that player controls doesn't block this creature, it can't be blocked.)
8/8

Brian Trunk (WotC brand dude) preview.  Hello there conditional hexproof Kraken fatty.  Wow, does WotC know how to build a Kraken or what - conditional hexproof is interesting and force for the all-in block is impressive.  We won't be playing this in standard format, but certainly looking at this for our one Momir Vig simic monster Commander list.

~
Flame-Wreathed Phoenix, 2rr
Creature — Phoenix, Mythic Rare
Flying
Tribute 2 (As this creature enters the battlefield, an opponent of your choice may put 2 +1/+1 counter on it.)
When Flame-Wreathed Phoenix enters the battlefield, if its tribute wasn't paid, it gains haste and "When this creature dies, return it to its owner's hand."
3/3

Motheriste preview.  This use of the new Tribute tech has us interested and we most definitely love how this can be returned with not too much fuss after a board-wipe.

~
Hero of Iroas, 1w
Creature — Human Soldier, Rare
Aura spells you cast cost 1 less to cast.
Heroic — Whenever you cast a spell that targets Hero of Iroas, put a +1/+1 counter on Hero of Iroas.
2/2

Mothersite preview.  We're are most definitely appreciating the support here for enchantments and although we are not head over heels crazy with this bonus bear, we'll still take him for a spin and perhaps make a casual g/w aura list - Walmart prices on auras make us very happy.  For standard, some players may be trying out a u/w heroic which will likely work quite well at FNM.

~
Fated Retribution, 4www
Instant, Rare
Destroy all creatures and planeswalkers. If it's your turn, scry 2.

Unofficial spoiler.  There are indications that this leak is from a reliable source - but we'll suggest you wait until it's official from the mothersite.  Liking the instant speed here but the high cmc suggests that it will only find fans in the Commander / EDH crowd.

~
Fated Intervention, 2ggg
Instant Rare
Put two 3/3 green Centaur enchantment creature tokens onto the battlefield. If it's your turn, scry 2.

Japanese MTG-JP site preview.  All part of the 'fated' cycle.  Five cmc for six power on the board is never a bad thingy and you also have a scry carrot to drop this instant on your turn.  We are seriously thinking of a standard deck with this, Advent of the Wurm, along with ramp / other synergies.

~
Fanatic of Xenagos, 1rg
Creature — Centaur Warrior, Uncommon
Trample
Tribute 1 (As this creature enters the battlefield, an opponent of your choice may put a +1/+1 counter on it.)
When Fanactic of Xenagos enters the battlefield, if its tribute wasn't paid, Fanactic of Xenagos gets +1/+1 and gains haste until end of turn
3/3

French site SMF Corp preview.  Another very lovely Tribute card.  If there are more nice tribute cards to come, we'll want to take a serious look at making a standard R/G Monsters list splashing for Exava, Rakdos Blood witch.
