Happy Friday MTG peeps,
We are round off week two of three of Magic: the Gathering's latest set, Dragon's Maze with 109 of 166 card revealed in our Spoiler List. If you have not yet checked in with your local gamery shoppe, we suggest you do to see if they need you to pre-register for the Dragon's Maze PreRelease next weekend. When we head out to our Friday Night Magic event over at OMG! Games here in Barrie, Ontario latter this evening, we'll make sure to get on the list.
Anywhoos - here's the round-up for Dragon's Maze previews from the mothersite and around the interwebs for today :

Ætherling, 4uu
Creature - Shapeshifter, Rare
{U}: Exile Ætherling. Return it to the battlefield under it's owners control, at the beginning of the next end step.
{U}: Ætherling is unblockable this turn
1: Ætherling gets +1/-1 until end of turn.
1: Ætherling gets -1/+1 until end of turn.
4/5
This looks decent - multiple options to adapt to game play. We most definietly appreciate having a Morphling variant in standard. Unblockable, pumps, and responds to spot removal, what's there not to like?
~Unflinching Courage, 1wg
Enchantment - Aura, Uncommon
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets +2/+2 and has trample and lifelink.
OHMAHGAWD - Very excited - this most certainly floats our boat. Hello Armadillo Cloak functional reprint. We're literally gushing a dozen different standard build ideas right now. Players who game with Bant Enchant builds are taking note. Mike Bierek's illustration on this one is unusual.

Korozda Gorgon, 3bg
Creature - Gorgon, Uncommon
Deathtouch
2, Remove a +1/+1 counter from a creature you control: Target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
2/5
This might work itself into a slot with some evolve or scavenge cards, seems like it could be fun but we won't be the first in line to give this a ride. Hawt Gorgon chillaxing in the sewer kinda reminds us of of a girlfriend of MTG Realm's very own CopySix.
~
Blast of Genius, 4ur
Sorcery, Uncommon
Choose target creature or player. Draw three cards and discard a card. Blast of Genius deals damage equal to the converted mana cost of the discard card to that creature or player.
Disco inferno baby. This appears to be well placed for limited but standard has many more options better than this. We love how Niv is photo-bombing in the background.
~
Bufón de púas ('Barbed' or 'Spiked' Jester), br
Creature - Goblin Warrior, Uncommon
Haste
3/1
Laberinto del Dragón preview exclusivo de Rebellion. For the Rakdos, "suicidal charge" and "showmanship" are the same thing and we think we have a standard constrcuted worthy two drop here. This may work well with Varolz - scavenge for 2 to get 3 +1/+1 counters on your hitter.

Lastly, we have here courtesy of our sister site MTG Realm on Tumblr, the Dragon's Maze Ultra•Pro playmats we can expect out next month on the third.

About Aetherling: "...and responds to spot removal..."
ReplyDeleteIt responds to all removal. All of it. Terminus, Mutilate, Supreme Verdict. There are like 6 cards in all of Magic that can deal with this card, none of which are in Standard right now.
Ummm.. I hate to spoil spoiler season, but aren't there only 156 cards not 166 total?????
ReplyDeleteThis is cool!
