Happy Tuesday MTG peeps,
It's Day two, Week two of official Dragon's Maze previews on the mothersite. Our Dragon's Maz spoiler list as of this morning sits at 84 of 166 cards now know so we're about half way there. As with each new Magic: the Gathering set, we are developing a short list of 'must have' cards we'll be getting from MTG Mint Card soon, as we have to say, we are rather pleased overall to date. Anywhoos - here's the latest cards for today which we'll update should additional ones come on in latter.
~
Notion Thief, 2ub
Creature - Human Rogue, Rare
Flash
If an opponent would draw a card except the first one he or she draws in each of his or her draw steps, instead that player skips that draw and you draw a card.
3/1
This was a late-day preview by WotC Worth Wollpert on Twitter. This may not be the bee's knee's for limited but standard may have a go at this paired with Bloodgift Demon or Whispering Madness.
~Blood Baron of Vizkopa, 3wb
Creature - Vampire, Mythic Rare
Lifelink, protection from white and from black.
As long as you have 30 or more life and an opponent has 10 or less life, Blood Baron of Vizkopa gets +6/+6 and has flying.
4/4
In a standard environment where we have a lot of multicolor cards, the protection from black and white we think is relevant, and the lifelink on a decent 4/4 body is a solid choice as well. Unfortunately, the five-drop slot in most builds likely to use this is somewhat crowded. As for the second ability for pump / flying given the conditions, it almost seems like a 'win-more' sort of thingy and perhaps not all that relevant in most formats.
~Deadbridge Chant, 4bg
Enchantment, Mythic Rare
When Deadbridge Chant enters the battlefield, put the top ten cards of your library into your graveyard.
At the beginning of your upkeep, choose a card at random in your graveyard. If it's a creature card, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand.
If you like using graveyard shenanigans as part of your strategy to win the game, this card may be for you. Fill up your yard and it becomes a resource with Deadbridge Chant, Unburial Rites or flashback. Just expect the metagame to adjust with more graveyard hate cards like Rest in Peace and Grafdigger's Cage. proliferating sideboards.
~Warped Physique, ub
Instant, Uncommon
Target creature gets +X/-X until end of turn, where X is the number of cards in your hand.
This, a Dan Tack Forbes preview. Flavor text is flavorable. This looks like a really bad Agony Warp and at best a very unreliable spot removal card . . . next card!
~Nivix Cyclops, 1ur
Creature - Cyclops, Common
Defender
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, Nivix Cyclops gets +3/+0 until end of turn and can attack this turn as though it didn't have defender.
1/4
Here's a Mana Deprived preview. This is the new fav common for Izzet players. Stays a solid defender at 1/4 which can swing into the red zone to land devastating blows. We want drop the Cyclops turn three and follow-up with a turn four Boros Charm and Artful Dodge to make an unblockable double striker.
