Happy Thursday MTG peeps,
Expected sometime latter this fall 2010, Magic: The Gathering - Tactics is a computerized, 3D version of the popular collectible card game. PC and PS3 players who enjoy playing MTG will be sure to love this - but expect some changes (good and bad) over the previous Duels of the Planeswalkers games.
First off - you probably guessed correctly - the classic 'Walkers' are back - say hello to Garruk Wildspeaker, Liliana Vess, Chandra, Jace, and Ajani.
Before you of short attention span drift off, let's have a looks at the official trailer . . .
~
From what we've leaned during New York Comic Con (NYCC 10) previews, one can expect the same wizardry dueling by casting spells - instants, enchantments, summoning critters to battle, etc.
Some changes to note however - cast creatures will have improved toughness, playing land card (mana) has been removed and bonuses are to be had when occupying certain battle zones. We've also noted that 'Level Up' is not restricted to those cool cards in the recent Rise of the Eldrazi set (3rd set in the Zendikar Block) - Players who earn experience points as they battle can also level up to enjoy a larger deck of cards to draw upon.
One down-side noted by quite a few of fellas on the forums is the virtual economy / currency not too unlike Linden dollars in Second Life. Magic: The Gathering - Tactics will have a virtual, player-driven economy that will include auction houses. Players will be able to trade cards and goods, buy new cards, or buy booster packs with Sony's virtual currency (Station Cash). Essentially Station Cash is Sony Online Entertainment’s new virtual currency that players can buy to fund a virtual wallet. Once a wallet has been funded, Station Cash can be used to purchase premium in-game items through the in-game Marketplace.

Sure looks swell and we do look forward to giving this a spin.

This game is bad. Very bad. Not being able to manually set your mana base is utter fail, same as with the last POS Magic game "Duel of the Planeswalkers". Oh and the game plays like you are walking in mud. Slow
ReplyDeleteMaybe your computer just sucks. it plays just fine on mine.
