Good Day & Happy hump-day to our MTG peeps,
Today's post is just a brief Magic the Gathering round-up of several Scars of Mirrodin promotional cards that have been seen around the interweb. Speaking in very general terms, we think that on the whole, Wizards has been providing better promos for not only pre-releases, releases, game day but also through their Wizards Play Network (WPN), Friday Night Magic and Gateway programs. Apparently, there are some Mirran and Phyrexia wristbands being circulated through the network as well.
First up -
Golem's Heart, 2
Artifact, Uncommon
Whenever a player casts an artifact spell, you may gain 1 life.
We rather like the card itself - unfortunately, it still has not found a solid spot in the FNM standard metagame. The alternate art by Allan Pollack is good but we still prefer the original by Matt Cavatta.

Plague Stinger, 1B
Creature - Insect Horror, Common
Flying
Infect (This creature deals damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters and to players in the form of poison counters.)
1/1
Ryan Pancoast's original art was epic. This alternate one from Tomasz Jedruszek is very decent but there this something Shadomoor / Eventide about it that we're not fond of. Otherwise, we thing this a solid common and a good choice for any casual infect deck.

Skinrender, 2BB
Creature - Zombie, Uncommon
When Skinrender enters the battlefield, put three -1/-1 counters on target creature.
3/3
David Rapoza's artwork for the original (dubbed by some as Alien-esque) seemed out of place for this set - do not misinterpret us - it was awesome. The new art by Adrian Smith is most excellent and we would love to get our paws on this.

Finally, just another note - ensure you get off the couch or playing Magic Online and head out to an FNM this month (only three more FNM's left in October) and get a chance to snag an epic-looking Rift Bolt from Time Spiral - cuz the new alt-art is totally off the hook . . .
Another word -
If you are stumped for a deck idea, you may wish to drop on over to MTG Mint Card which has a very lovely Deck Central page one may review or create Standard, Extended, Block, Legacy, or Vintage decks.
